Florida Statute 509.039 requires certification of all food service managers who are responsible for the storage preparation, display, or serving of foods to the public. All managers employed by a food service establishment must have passed a certified manager’s exam and have a certificate attesting thereof. The certificate shall be valid for five years.
Florida Statute 509.049 requires training and certification in food safety when dealing with preparation, serving, displaying and storage of food sold to the public. This training must be completed within 60 days of hire and the certification shall remain valid for 3 years.

Who has to be tested?
Florida Statutes Chapter 509.039 requires that all managers in a public food service establishment receive their CPFM certification and that establishments employing more than four or more persons responsible for the storage, preparation, display, and serving of food to the public must have at least one certified professional food manager (CPFM) on duty at all times.
How long is the certification good for?
Your certification is good for five years from date of examination.
How long do you have to become certified?
Upon employment, a manager has 30 days to pass the required examination and become certified as a CPFM.

Do you need to be a CPFM to administer the ServSafe Food Handler Training?
To comply with the Florida Statutes Section 509.049 mandating that all food handlers be trained by January 1, 2001, you must have a CPFM administer the program.
Does FSA provide on-premise training?

Food handler's may be trained by a Certified Food Protection Manager by utilizing the state approved training material or by a third party professional training provider such as FSA to conduct this training for you.
